ITinsite is delighted to sponsor the Alton Rugby Football Club Under 7’s team.  The team were runners up in the March 2011 Hampshire tournament with 20 teams playing in the Cup Final.  Congratulations to the U7’s team, shown here wearing their new tops and proudly displaying their medals!

It’s a new season and the U7’s are now the U8’s!!

The season has started brilliantly.  The team reached the final of the New Milton 15th Annual Festival of Mini Rugby, a competition between 10 clubs at New Milton RFC in October 2011, narrowly missing out on the top spot in a close fought final.  Later in October, Alton entered U8 teams in two parallel competitions at Petersfield RFC. Both Alton teams reached, and then won, both finals!  Well done Alton RFC; teams, coaches and supporters!

Hampshire U8's Mini Rugby Festival

This Festival was held in Romsey in March 2012.  The day was warm and sunny (lots of water bottles on-field!).  24 teams from all over Hampshire competed.  Alton missed out on the top prize, the Cup being won by Andover, but played some excellent rugby to be the winning finalist of the Bowl.  Well done the Alton U8's!

Inaugural London Irish league

On Saturday 14th April the U8's excelled at the play-offs of the inaugural London Irish league.  Having finished 4th in the league they had a tough route to the final but came out on top in their quarter final and semi-final to face Winchester, a strong side, in the Cup final.  The boys played some of the best rugby they have played all season, beating Winchester 5 tries to 4 to win the Cup!  Then it was off to watch London Irish v Saracens at the Madejski Stadium, Reading, where the boys had the opportunity to go on to the pitch at half time to show off the Cup and their medals.

Quite a highlight and a proud moment!  An occasion to be remembered so we have given the official photo pride of place below!

A fitting end to the Alton U8's 2011-2012 season and a tribute to the hard work of everyone involved; the dedicated coaches led by Steve, the boys and all the many helpers and supporters.

It's the start of another new rugby season!

The core team that we have been following since they were the U7s are now the Under 10s.  The inaugural mini-Festival was hosted by the New Milton RFU on Sunday 6 October 2013.  Some 700 boys from the U6s through to the U12's competed.  This was the first Festival under the new rules so there were no major cups; every player received an individual medal.

Winchester tournament - March 2014

At Winchester the boys started strongly, comfortably beating Gosport 5-0. Up next were New Milton who were despatched 4-0.

We then had our worst performance against a strong Trojans side but thanks to a startling second half performance, we ground out a 2-1 win to go head to head with Winchester to top the pool.  A cracker of a match which saw us again win 2-1.

The final was against Basingstoke and there was only one side in it. We were faster to the breakdown, more direct in our running and passing, and our tackling was immense.

A well deserved 5-0 victory meant we were undefeated and only conceded two tries.

An excellent "team" effort!!!
